Dharamshala Foundation Day and Lohri celebrated in Sector 43, Chandigarh
On the occasion of completion of 20 years of service by Hospice today, Founders Day & Lohri was celebrated at Hospice, Sector 43, Chandigarh. Deputy Commissioner-cum- Secretary Health, UT Chandigarh, Sh Yashpal Garg, IAS graced the occasion and interacted with the patients and the volunteers of Hospice.
Chandigarh Hospice & Palliative Care Project is a project of Red Cross Society, UT Chandigarh Branch for advanced cancer patients, who need pain and symptom control. With the vision to provide compassionate, competitive & qualitative care, the service has served around 21000 patients till date in its three level care facility-Out Patient Clinic, Home care & Inpatient unit Hospice. Around 500 patients are admitted to Hospice every year .
Believing in philosophy of ‘Care Beyond Cure’, the service aims to let people with advanced cancer live as comfortably as possible
This is an issue that affects us all, because we would like our lives & the lives of those we love- to end peacefully & comfortably.
Yashpal Garg, IAS appreciated the efforts of the Team Hospice for their noble duties with a motto "Together let us take their pain away."
Sh Amit Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr Firuza Patel Mentor Hospice, Managing Body Members of the Red Cross, representatives of the supporting NGOs, faculty from the Deptt. of Radiotherapy & Oncology, PGI and the individual supporters for this cause were present on the occasion.
