₹75 Crore songs: Game Changer team explains

Game Changer team explains ₹75 crore budget for 4 songs in Ram Charan, Kiara Advani film

The team behind the upcoming film Game Changer, directed by Shankar and starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, recently addressed the confusion surrounding their decision to spend ₹75 crore on just four songs. Shankar is known for creating visually grand songs in his films, but this move surprised many on the internet. To clarify, the film’s music label, Saregama, provided a detailed breakdown of the costs involved in producing these songs.

The songs featured in the film are Jaragandi, Raa Macha Macha, Naanaa Hyraanaa, and Dhop. Each of these songs had unique elements that contributed to their high production costs.

Breakdown of the four songs

  1. Jaragandi: Choreographed by Prabhu Deva, this song involved 600 dancers and was shot over 13 days on an elaborate 70-foot village set. The costumes were eco-friendly and made from jute, adding to the expenses.

  2. Raa Macha Macha: This song, choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, featured 1,000 dancers and served as a tribute to India’s rich cultural diversity and folk dance traditions.

  3. Naanaa Hyraanaa: Touted as the first Indian song shot using an infrared camera, this number was filmed in New Zealand, adding to the budget.

  4. Dhop: Choreographed by Jani Master, this song included 100 Russian dancers and was completed in just eight days, despite its grand scale.

Mixed reactions from fans

While some fans appreciated Shankar’s penchant for grandeur, others questioned the necessity of such extravagant spending. Many pointed out that ₹75 crore could fund an entire movie. A Reddit user recalled Shankar’s previous works, such as Jeans, where a song was shot across the Seven Wonders of the World. On the other hand, critics called the budget a waste of resources, especially since such expenses might not significantly impact the film’s quality or success.

Game Changer, which also stars Anjali, SJ Suryah, Prakash Raj, and others, is set to hit theaters on January 10, promising a visually spectacular experience.
