For two days, a Kerala man was stuck on a mountain

R Babu, a Kerala trekker who has been stranded in a hill cleft in Malampuzha village in the state's Palakkad district since Monday, was rescued by an Indian Army rescue team on Tuesday morning. The 23-year-old was reached after four hours of crawling, according to army officers.

He was given some water and is presently being transported to the top of the slope, as the descent is difficult. The Navy and the National Disaster Response Force are also participating in the rescue mission, which is one of the largest in recent memory (NDRF).

On Wednesday morning, the rescue mission, which had been paused on Tuesday, was resumed.

According to the trekker's friends, he slipped into an opening on the slope after becoming exhausted while attempting to descend the rocks.

Pinarayi Vijayan, the Chief Minister, also intervened and requested the Army's assistance in rescuing the youth.

According to a notification from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Lt General Arun of the Army's Southern Command notified the CMO that a specialized team will be departing from Bengaluru soon.

The latest on this mammoth rescue effort is as follows:

• Army officers estimate that reaching the top of the Kurumpachi Mala hill will take at least two hours. 

• Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the 23-year-health old's is satisfactory and that he will be rescued at any time.

• Palakkad district collector Mrunmai Joshi said that a medical team has been prepared. Babu's mother and brother are staying at a campsite close to base camp.

While climbing to the fissure to bring Babu down to safety, rescuers say they came across three bears.

• The Indian Army's mountaineering unit is helping with the rescue effort. The troops were able to reach Babu 48 hours after the rescue attempt began.

• Babu sustained an injury when he fell into a lowering hill's opening. According to a police officer, he then texted selfies and photos of the site where he was stuck on Cherad hill. 

•His friends, who were able to safely descend the hill after abandoning the hike halfway due to the accident, stated he first answered to their shouts, but they couldn't find him in the mountain fissure. 

•Navy choppers came on Tuesday and flew multiple missions, but due to the hazardous terrain, they were unable to extract him.

•A Coast Guard helicopter pilot attempted to hover near the ridge where Babu is stranded, but the flight was cancelled owing to a "strong downdraft caused by the topography of the terrain," according to the force.

•Food and water deliveries have also fallen through, and authorities are attempting to keep wild animals at bay by igniting flambeaus.

•Babu is seen sitting in a little depression on the mountain face in images broadcast on local television stations.

The Air Force, in addition to the Army, will assist in the rescue efforts, according to the CMO release, which also stated that para commandos will be airlifted from Bengaluru to Sulur and then driven to Malampuzha.

Following the Coast Guard's failure, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team was attempting to reach the youth, who appeared to be seated in a small recess on the mountain face, according to television footage.

Another squad was on its way to save the teen, according to the rescuer.

Locals said the teenager and two others decided to climb to the summit of Cherad hill there on Monday, but the other two abandoned the effort midway.

Babu, on the other hand, continued climbing to the summit, where he slipped and fell, being caught between boulders on the mountain wall.
