Former sarpanch assaulted a Pregnant woman along with her husband

A three-month-pregnant woman forest guard and her husband were allegedly thrashed by a former sarpanch and his wife in a village in Maharashtra's Satara district.

The pair was arrested as a result of the incident, according to authorities.

Maharashtra environment minister Aaditya Thackeray tweeted about the arrest shortly after the video of the two abusing a woman forest guard went viral.

Officials claimed the event happened on Wednesday in Palsawade village in Maharashtra's western district.

According to authorities, the accused guy, who is a member of the local forest management committee, was enraged by the forest guard for accompanying her "without his permission."

Social media users have gone crazy over a video of the assault.

Thackeray, who shared the footage on his Twitter account on Thursday, stated, the accused has been arrested this morning and will face the law at its strictest. Such acts will not be tolerated.”

The accused individual is a former sarpanch of Palsawade village and a member of the local forest management committee, according to Satara superintendent of police Ajay Kumar Bansal.

He said, “He and his wife allegedly beat up the woman forest guard, who is three months pregnant, along with her husband as the accused was angry over the guard taking the contractual forest labourers along with her without his permission,” he said.

“Since the forest guard is pregnant, a medical examination of her foetus will be carried out. If the foetus is found harmed, relevant sections will be slapped against the accused duo,” he further said.

The woman forest guard told reporters that the duo had also beaten up her husband, who is a forest guard.
