Free transplants in Haryana up to ₹3 lakh

Haryana announces free renal and liver transplants up to ₹3 lakh

The Haryana government has launched a new initiative to provide free renal and liver transplants worth up to ₹3 lakh for eligible patients. Approved by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, this program is part of the Mukhya Mantri Muft Ilaj Yojana (MMMIY) and aims to make life-saving medical treatments accessible to those in need. Patients who qualify for this program can receive these critical surgeries at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak without worrying about high costs.

Supporting vulnerable patients

Dr. Kamal Gupta, the state's health, medical education, and research minister, emphasized the significance of this initiative. By covering the costs of these expensive surgeries, the program ensures that financial constraints do not prevent patients from receiving essential healthcare. This new facility marks the first time a government healthcare institution in Haryana has offered such comprehensive care, representing a significant step towards providing better healthcare for the most vulnerable sections of society.

In addition to the MMMIY scheme, the chief minister has also approved a fixed package of ₹3 lakh for renal and liver transplants under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana - Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY-AB) scheme. This decision further strengthens the support for patients in need of these critical procedures.

Dr. Gupta highlighted that these decisions aim to offer life-saving treatments to those who are most in need, ensuring that no one is denied essential healthcare due to lack of funds. With this new initiative, identified patients will be able to receive critical renal and liver transplants at PGIMS, Rohtak, without worrying about the prohibitive costs.
