Harris questions Trump’s health amid fitness debate
Kamala Harris highlights ‘Excellent Health’ to challenge Trump’s fitness for office
Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign recently announced that she is physically and mentally fit to take on presidential duties. This statement came from her doctor, Joshua R. Simmons, who confirmed that Harris is in "excellent health." He noted that she has the physical and mental strength necessary for the role. The campaign released details about her health, including her blood pressure, blood work, and seasonal allergies.
The 59-year-old Harris follows a "very healthy diet" and leads an active lifestyle. Her most recent physical exam in April showed no issues. Harris has also been undergoing allergen immunotherapy for three years, which has greatly improved her seasonal allergy symptoms, so she only takes occasional medications for rhinitis.
Addressing health concerns for Candidates
By sharing Harris’ medical information, her campaign continues a tradition seen in both major political parties. Former President Donald Trump, who is 78, had previously promised to release his medical records but has not done so recently despite media requests.

Amid discussions about age and health in the upcoming election, some Democrats are questioning Trump’s mental sharpness, especially after concerns about President Joe Biden's age were raised earlier. Trump, if elected, would become the oldest person to serve as president, surpassing Biden, who will be 82 in November.
Last year, Trump provided a doctor’s note claiming he was in "excellent health," but it lacked specific data to support that statement. In 2018, a medical report revealed he had a common heart condition, which was manageable with medication. Although his weight was reported as being at the lower end of the obese category for his height, his physician stated he had lost weight recently.
As the election approaches, health and fitness remain important topics for both candidates, with each side raising questions about the other's ability to serve effectively.
