Harvinder Singh has made history as the first Indian archer to win a gold medal at the Paralympics. At the Paris Paralympics, he defeated Poland's Lukasz Ciszek in a one-sided final to secure the top spot.
A historic achievement
The 33-year-old Harvinder Singh, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Games, showed remarkable skill and determination in the final. He won the match 6-0 with scores of 28-24, 28-27, and 29-25. Harvinder’s performance was impressive, as he won five matches in a single day without showing signs of fatigue or nervousness.

Overcoming challenges
Harvinder Singh, who is also pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics, faced significant challenges. Both of his legs are impaired due to side effects from dengue treatment he received as a child. Despite these difficulties, he has risen to become a standout athlete and has now secured India’s second medal in archery at the Paralympics.
