Haryana Chief Secretary aims to bridge gap between public and private education
Haryana is taking big steps to improve government education and make it equal to private schools. On Monday, chief secretary Anurag Rastogi visited a government school in Bataur village, located in the Barwala block of Panchkula district. He spoke with students and encouraged them to take full advantage of the opportunities being offered at their school.
The school he visited is the Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School. During his visit, Rastogi had conversations with the students, sharing life advice, and encouraging them to aim high. He also told the students that the Haryana government is working hard to reduce the difference between public and private education.
This visit is part of a new program announced by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in his budget speech. The Chief Minister had asked all first and second-class officers in Haryana’s government departments to visit at least one government school every month. These officers are expected to spend two to three hours interacting with students. Their role is not just to visit, but to actively engage—talk about interesting subjects and offer career advice to the students.
Haryana's Focus on Equal Education
During his interaction, Anurag Rastogi said that the government has set up special schools like Model Sanskriti and Saarthak Model Schools. These schools are meant to provide high-quality education at low or no cost, especially to students from poor families. According to him, these schools are built to help talented students who may not get noticed because they cannot afford expensive private schooling. “Our goal is to give every child the chance to shine, no matter their background,” he told the students.
To support the school even more, Rastogi made a personal contribution. He announced that he would give ₹51,000 from his own salary to the school. This money is to be used for activities that encourage creativity and innovation among students.

This visit and gesture by the chief secretary is a small part of a much larger mission. Haryana is trying to build a strong education system where government schools are just as good as private ones. By making senior officers visit schools regularly, the government hopes to bring attention, care, and resources to public education.
Through this initiative, students in rural areas and underfunded schools will get better learning environments, regular interactions with successful people, and guidance to make better career choices. Haryana’s message is clear: education should be equal and strong for everyone, whether the child studies in a private or a government school.
