Haryana CM approves regularization of 303 illegal colonies

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar regularizes 303 illegal colonies

In a significant move ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha and assembly elections, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced the immediate regularization of 303 illegal colonies spread across 14 districts of the state. These measures are aimed at bringing relief and development to over 10 lakh residents in these areas. 

Khattar also pledged to regularize the remaining 1,507 such colonies by January 31 and allocate ₹3,000 crore for basic infrastructure development in these areas. To prevent the emergence of more illegal colonies in the future, strict monitoring and provisions have been put in place.

Electricity and Property Tax relief

Furthermore, the CM announced electricity connections for farmhouses (deras-dhanis) with a population of 10 or more within a 3km radius of a village's outer street. He also extended solar connections with a 50% capital subsidy for households without electricity. For property owners, Khattar waived interest and penalties on outstanding property tax, amounting to ₹8,000 crore, and provided a 15% rebate on principal outstanding property tax, benefiting owners by approximately ₹1,200 crore. 

Honoring Asian Games medallists

Additionally, CM Khattar celebrated Haryana's athletes who have excelled at the ongoing Asian Games 2023, contributing 22 medals, including seven gold, three silver, and 12 bronze, out of 86 Indian athletes. Haryana's athletes secured 15 medals in individual events and seven medals in team events.
