Haryana CM Khattar urges youth to reject drugs

Haryana CM Khattar's urgent appeal: youth encouraged to steer clear of drugs

Haryana's Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, has made an earnest appeal to the state's youth, urging them to steer clear of drugs. He emphasized that the government has launched several initiatives to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among young people.

In his message, CM Khattar highlighted that although Haryana represents just 2% of India's population, the state has a significant 11% share in the country's defense services. Additionally, every third athlete representing India hails from Haryana. To combat the drug menace, the government organized a cyclothon across the state to educate the public about the risks associated with drug use.

Addressing livestock welfare

During an evening visit to Sisana Gaushala in Sonepat, CM Khattar urged authorities to provide shelter for stray livestock roaming on the roads. He pledged full government support for this noble cause and announced a grant of ₹51 lakh for Sisana Gaushala, in addition to the earlier grant of ₹42 lakh. This funding will cater to the welfare of up to 7,000 cattle at the gaushala. Moreover, ₹70 lakh will be allocated for constructing a shed covering 16 acres in Sisana to accommodate an additional 1,000 cattle.

Promoting indigenous cattle breeds

CM Khattar shared plans to establish a research center on 25 acres, focused on the development of indigenous cattle breeds, cow urine, cow dung, and related research, under the Gau Sewa Aayog. He noted that the number of gaushalas in the state has increased from 215 in 2014 to 649 in 2022, housing approximately 35,500 cattle. Additionally, the government has reduced electricity charges for gaushalas to ₹2 per unit from the previous ₹8 per unit, encouraging gaushalas to explore opportunities in the milk, cow urine, cow dung, and related industries with government support.

CM Khattar's call for drug awareness and his commitment to livestock welfare mark his dedication to addressing pressing issues in Haryana.
