In a heartwarming gesture, two families from Haryana, struck by tragedy, chose to donate the organs of their loved ones, offering hope and life to several others in need.
Shubham's legacy of life
Shubham, a 24-year-old student from Haryana, met with a tragic accident and was admitted to PGIMER in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, he was declared brain dead. His family, in a selfless act, consented to organ donation, adhering to the Transplantation of Human Organs Act.
Shubham's liver, kidneys, pancreas, and corneas were successfully harvested. While his liver found a recipient at ILBS hospital in Delhi, his kidneys went to two individuals, one of whom was on long-term dialysis, while the other was struggling with type-1 diabetes. Additionally, two corneal blind patients regained their sight through the donated corneas. A green corridor facilitated the safe transport of Shubham's liver to Delhi, ensuring timely transplantation.

Preet's gift of hope
Another family, Joginder Pal Singh and Pinky Rani, faced a similar tragedy when their 18-year-old daughter, Preet, was declared brain dead after a fatal accident. Choosing to honor Preet's memory through organ donation, her liver was sent to Max Hospital in Saket, while her pancreas and one kidney were directed to PGIMER, Chandigarh. The second kidney was donated to a critical kidney failure patient at Alchemist Hospital.
The compassionate decisions of these two families have had a profound impact, extending lifelines to multiple individuals battling critical health conditions. Through their selflessness, they have given the gift of life to those in desperate need, emphasizing the importance and impact of organ donation.
These acts of kindness not only underscore the significance of organ donation but also serve as a reminder of the power of humanity and compassion, even in the face of personal tragedy.
