Haryana’s industries and commerce minister, Rao Narbir Singh, announced new infrastructure projects worth ₹800 crore to improve Gurugram’s connectivity and development. During his “thanksgiving tour” in Vatika City (Sector 49) and South Close (Sector 50) on Sunday, Singh outlined ambitious plans for the city’s future.
The projects include an elevated road connecting the Gurugram-Jaipur National Highway to Vatika Chowk and four flyovers between Vatika Chowk and Ghata. Singh assured residents that the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is working on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and said that construction would begin soon. “The next five years will set the stage for a golden future for Gurugram,” he said, stressing the importance of timely completion and public participation.

Focus on green spaces and community needs
The minister also highlighted plans for a community centre in South Close, set to begin construction within two months. He addressed concerns about encroachments along the 12-kilometre Vatika Chowk-Ghata Green Belt, announcing that they would be cleared by January 31. RS Bath, the district town planner, has been appointed to oversee this initiative.
“Preserving green spaces is a top priority,” Singh said, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and public involvement in these efforts. He also encouraged officials to propose new projects to speed up government approvals. “We are dedicated to building a modern and sustainable Gurugram,” he added.
The projects aim to enhance connectivity, improve public amenities, and ensure a cleaner, greener city for residents. Singh’s announcements reflect the government’s commitment to transforming Gurugram into a model urban area.
