Heightened security at Ram Mandir after Pannun's threat

Security tightened around Ayodhya's Ram Mandir following threats from Gurpatwant Pannun

On Tuesday, security around the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was heightened after Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a pro-Khalistan leader and the founder of the banned group Sikhs for Justice, allegedly issued a video threatening potential violence at the site. In the video, Pannun warned of possible bloodshed at the temple on November 16-17, shortly before the festival of Ram Vivah on November 18, which Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to attend. Authorities took the threat seriously and responded swiftly, transforming Ayodhya into a high-security zone, police confirmed.

To secure the Ram Janmabhoomi area, armed members of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) have been positioned in strategic locations. Surveillance has been intensified, with closed-circuit television (CCTV) and drones monitoring the area. Local intelligence teams and anti-terror units are on high alert, with bomb disposal squads also prepared for any potential threat. Additionally, large forces from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Uttar Pradesh Police have been deployed throughout Ayodhya, ensuring round-the-clock security.

Officials respond with confidence amid security concerns

Despite the heightened security, Ayodhya officials and local leaders have expressed confidence in the city’s safety. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) RK Nayyar acknowledged the threat but assured that security measures were tightened as a precaution. Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi downplayed the threat, stating that Ayodhya, protected by Lord Hanuman, remains a secure place. He emphasized that Ayodhya is already a high-security zone with personnel well-trained to respond to any terror threat.

The security measures demonstrate a robust response to safeguard the Ram Mandir during the upcoming festival, with officials reassuring the public of their commitment to safety.
