In an effort to boost tourism infrastructure, the Himachal Pradesh tourism department has reached out to 25 leading hospitality firms, including Oberoi Hotels and Health Resorts, Hyatt, Marriot International, and IHG Hotels and Resorts, inviting them to invest in various projects across the state. These projects are being developed with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as well as state resources.
Invitation to invest:
The tourism department is organizing a business opportunity conference in Chandigarh on April 9 to present investment opportunities to these hospitality firms. The projects on offer include the development of wellness centers, ice-skating rinks, convention centers, and tourist complexes in different parts of Himachal Pradesh.
Among the proposed projects is a wellness center in Naduan, the hometown of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. This center will feature deluxe rooms, wellness facilities, a swimming pool, gymnasium, meditation and yoga halls, and cottages. Similarly, wellness centers are also planned for Manali, Shimla, and Kullu, each with its own unique features and amenities.

All these projects will be undertaken through private-public partnerships, emphasizing collaboration between the government and private sector to boost tourism infrastructure in the state. This approach allows for efficient utilization of resources and expertise from both sectors to ensure the success of these initiatives.
Focus on diverse facilities:
Apart from wellness centers, the plans also include setting up rafting centers in Naduan, and indoor ice skating and roller skating rinks in Dharamshala, Manali, and Shimla. These recreational facilities aim to attract tourists with diverse interests and provide them with unique experiences during their visit to Himachal Pradesh.
The projected costs for these developments vary depending on the scale and features of each project. For instance, the estimated cost for the wellness center in Shimla is ₹552 crore, while the most expensive project, the wellness center in Dharamshala, is estimated at ₹1616 crore. Overall, the invitation to invest in these tourism projects underscores Himachal Pradesh's commitment to enhancing its hospitality infrastructure and attracting more visitors to the state, thereby contributing to its economic growth and development.
