Himachal CM conducts comprehensive review of development projects in Kangra
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu held a review meeting in Dharamshala to check the progress of various development projects in Kangra district. Addressing the district officials, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of speeding up work on the government’s flagship projects and avoiding unnecessary delays, which he described as "delayed corruption."
The year 2025, according to Sukhu, is a "Performing Year" for the government. He called for full cooperation from all officials and departments to ensure the state’s progress. He stressed the importance of delivering welfare schemes to eligible beneficiaries without any hurdles. Additionally, he instructed that allocated funds should be used within the financial year to maintain efficiency.
Sukhu highlighted that the government is prioritizing the health and education sectors. In the coming months, Rs. 1,500 crore will be spent on procuring advanced equipment for healthcare institutions. The goal is to provide better medical services to citizens, bringing healthcare directly to their doorsteps.

Boosting tourism and agriculture
To boost tourism, the Chief Minister shared plans for an international-level zoological park in Bankhandi, located in the Dehra Assembly Constituency. Construction has already begun, with the first phase expected to finish by April 2026. Additionally, tenders for heliports in Rakkar and Palampur are set to be opened this month.
Infrastructure development is also gaining momentum. The construction of the Pathankot-Mandi and Matour-Shimla four-lane highways is underway, with specific instructions to include a 5-meter median for safety and convenience.
In agriculture, the Chief Minister encouraged farmers in Kangra to cultivate high-value crops such as dragon fruit and blueberries to boost their income. This initiative aims to strengthen the region’s economy by diversifying farming options.
With a focus on health, education, tourism, and agriculture, the state government is working toward making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
