A large number of retired government employees gathered in Shimla to protest against the delay in their pension payments. The protest was led by the Indian State Pensioners Association. Senior citizens from different parts of Himachal Pradesh joined the demonstration, expressing their anger at the government for not solving their problems.
The pensioners have given the government 15 days to take action. If their demands are not met, they plan to form a joint action committee and increase their protests.
Financial struggles of pensioners
Ghanshyam Sharma, the vice-president of the pensioners' association, said this was the first time so many retired employees had to protest for their rights. He questioned why thousands of pensioners had to come to the streets if everything was fine.

He explained that many pensioners were either not receiving their pensions or getting very little money. Meanwhile, he accused government officials of spending on luxuries instead of helping them. He claimed that ministers and officers who once had two cars now own four, which their families use for personal enjoyment. The pensioners are demanding immediate action to resolve these financial issues.
