Kangana Ranaut shocked by ₹1 lakh electricity bill for Manali home, says she doesn’t even live there
Actor and Member of Parliament from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut, recently expressed her shock over receiving an electricity bill of ₹1 lakh for her house in Manali. She said that she doesn’t even live there, so it was surprising to see such a huge bill. She spoke about this issue during a political event in Mandi.
Kangana mentioned that she finds it hard to believe the bill amount. She shared her concerns with the public, saying it’s upsetting to get such a high bill for a house that’s not even in use. The video of her speech was also shared widely on social media.
She said in her speech, “This month I received an electricity bill of ₹1 lakh for my Manali house, where I don’t even live. The situation is so bad. When I read the bill, I felt ashamed. What is happening? But we have a chance to make a change. All my brothers and sisters who work hard on the ground can help fix this.”
Kangana didn’t just stop at sharing her concern. She went on to criticize the Himachal Pradesh government. She blamed them for the poor state of electricity services and high bills. She urged people to take action and improve the condition of the state. She added, “It is our responsibility to take this country and state forward. I say these are wolves, and we must free our state from their grip.”
Kangana’s political journey and future plans
This year, Kangana entered politics and took part in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It was her first time as a political candidate. She contested the elections from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, and defeated Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh. Her victory attracted a lot of attention, both because of her fame and her bold political views.
Her presence in politics has brought her into the limelight once again, but this time not because of films, but because of issues like power bills and government policies. She is known for being outspoken and direct, and this time too, she didn’t hold back while talking about the problems in her state.
Apart from politics, Kangana has also been active in the film industry. In 2023, she acted in two films—Chandramukhi 2 and Tejas. After that, she took on an even bigger role in the movie Emergency, where she worked as a director, producer, and actor. The film is based on the real-life events during the Emergency period in India (1975-1977), which was imposed by the then Congress government.
Emergency was delayed several times due to issues with the censor board but finally got released this year. However, it received mixed reviews and didn’t do very well at the box office. It’s currently available to watch on Netflix.

Recently, she was also seen sharing a friendly moment with Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. A picture from the parliament session showed them smiling together. Kangana posted the photo online and called it a light-hearted moment, showing a softer side to her usually strong political image.
Despite being busy with politics, Kangana continues to make headlines for both personal and professional reasons. Her statements often spark debates, and her recent complaint about the high electricity bill is no exception. Many people supported her views, while some questioned the bill and the reasons behind it.
As she continues to raise her voice about problems in Himachal Pradesh, it seems Kangana is serious about her political journey. Whether it's electricity issues or bigger development goals, she appears determined to bring change.
While her fans still remember her bold roles in movies, Kangana is now equally known for her political speeches and strong opinions. Only time will tell how far she goes in this new chapter of her life, but for now, she remains one of the most talked-about figures in both Bollywood and Indian politics.
