India and the UAE will fight terrorism together:Modi

India and the UAE will fight terrorism together, says Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Friday at a virtual summit with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan that India and the UAE will fight terrorism together.

Modi also mentioned the recent terror incidents in the Gulf nation in his remarks, while delving into many aspects of the two countries' growing connections.

“We strongly condemn the recent terrorist attacks in the UAE. India and the UAE will stand shoulder to shoulder against terrorism,” he said.

The prime minister also complimented the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for showing interest in investing in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Following the successful visit of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to the UAE last month, several Emirati companies have shown interest in investing in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

"We welcome UAE investment in Jammu and Kashmir in all sectors, including logistics, healthcare, and hospitality," Modi added.

The two countries also signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to strengthen their trade and investment ties.

Modi said in his speech that the deal symbolises the two countries' great friendship, common vision, and trust.

"I am confident that this will mark the beginning of a new era in our economic relations." In the next five years, our business will increase from USD 60 billion to USD 100 billion," he said.

Both sides may support entrepreneurs through joint-incubation and joint-financing, according to the prime minister, who added that there is also room for cooperation in people's skill development.

The two sides also finalised a vision statement at the summit, which lays out the contours of bilateral ties' future direction and highlights key areas of concern.

The two sides agreed in the vision statement to strengthen maritime cooperation in order to contribute to the region's peace and security.

At both the regional and international levels, the two sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to combat extremism and terrorism in all forms, including cross-border terrorism.

It also refers to the development of a specific investment zone for UAE enterprises and joint ventures in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, with an emphasis on the building of a culinary corridor and a dedicated India Mart.

It also aims to attract Indian investors to Abu Dhabi by building specialised industrial advanced technology zones, with a particular focus on logistics and services, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, agriculture, agri-tech, steel, and aluminium.

The vision statement stated that collaboration will be formed to support India's energy requirements, including new energies, and to assure the provision of affordable and secure energy supplies to the country's rising economy.
