India Blames Pak for political remarks in UNSC Session

India Condemns Pakistan's Politically-Charged Remarks on J&K at UNSC

India has strongly criticized Pakistan for making "politically-motivated" and "venomous" remarks regarding Jammu and Kashmir during a UN Security Council debate on children and armed conflict. Ashish Sharma, Counsellor in India's Permanent Mission to the UN, delivered a sharp response to Pakistan's UN envoy Munir Akram's mention of Jammu and Kashmir in his statement.

ASHISH SHARMA'S STAEMENT

Sharma dismissed Pakistan's comments as politically-driven and frivolous, emphasizing that those who harbor bigotry struggle to comprehend a diverse and pluralistic society. He refrained from dignifying the venomous remarks by directly responding to them, asserting that India dismisses and condemns such remarks with the utmost contempt they deserve.

Sharma further highlighted that Pakistan's remarks were an attempt to divert attention from the grave violations against children persisting within Pakistan itself, as highlighted in the Secretary-General's report. He firmly reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, as integral parts of India, have been and will always remain inseparable from the nation, regardless of Pakistan's beliefs or desires.

Additionally, Sharma expressed concern over the concerning global trend of an increase in the recruitment and involvement of children in terrorism-related activities. He emphasized the need to address this dangerous phenomenon, urging collective efforts to safeguard the well-being and future of children worldwide.
