USA and India to assist Ukraine in war
India Embraced for its Vital Role in Securing Long-lasting Peace in Ukraine
India's contribution to achieving lasting peace in Ukraine has been welcomed by the United States. The State Department Spokesperson, Matthew Miller, stated that the US appreciates the role that India, along with other countries, can play in promoting a fair and enduring peace that upholds Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Miller made these remarks during a press conference in Washington DC, where he addressed the possibility of India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, playing a part in resolving the prolonged conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
INDIA AND USA RELATIONS
In June, both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden expressed their concerns about the Ukrainian conflict and acknowledged the devastating humanitarian consequences it has caused. They highlighted the significant and expanding impact of the war on the global economy, including food, fuel, energy security, and critical supply chains. They emphasized the need for greater efforts to alleviate the repercussions of the war, particularly in developing nations.
During the G7 summit in Hiroshima in May, Prime Minister Modi met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and assured him of India's support in resolving the dispute between Moscow and Kyiv. Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi has engaged in multiple discussions with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Zelenskyy, urging them to seek a diplomatic solution.
Overall, India's involvement in fostering peace in Ukraine has been recognized and appreciated by the United States, as well as its commitment to supporting a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
