Modi criticizes Congress on Article 370 stance, accuses Party of disregarding Ambedkar’s vision

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke strongly against the Congress party during an election rally in Maharashtra, accusing it of trying to push Jammu and Kashmir back into conflict. Modi claimed the Congress is seeking to restore Article 370 in the region, which he argued shows disregard for India's Constitution and for BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. 

Speaking at Akola, Modi declared, “Congress wants to revive Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, which would lead to more violence. But Article 370 will never return.” He criticized Congress leaders who, while publicly defending the Constitution, are supporting Article 370, a move that Modi said disrespects Ambedkar's legacy. He added that the Congress has historically been against Ambedkar’s vision and has ignored the importance of one unified Constitution for the country.

The Prime Minister said India once operated under two Constitutions—one for Jammu and Kashmir and another for the rest of the country. He claimed that Congress prefers this division because it helps the party stay strong at the expense of national unity. Modi accused Congress of creating divisions among different communities, such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), to weaken them and capture votes.

Modi urged voters to stay united, emphasizing his motto, “Ek Hai Toh Safe Hai” (United We Are Safe). He asked people to be cautious about Congress’ tactics, saying they aim to divide communities to weaken them.

Jammu and Kashmir Assembly resolution for Article 370

The Jammu and Kashmir assembly recently passed a resolution calling for the restoration of Article 370. Modi described this as part of a “conspiracy” by the Congress and its allies, warning that their actions go against Ambedkar's vision. He shared that during a session in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly, Congress and National Conference members displayed banners supporting Article 370 and passed a resolution to bring it back.

According to Modi, BJP members opposed the resolution, but some were thrown out of the assembly. He added, “While I am here, Congress will not succeed in bringing back Article 370.” He emphasized that only Ambedkar’s Constitution will be followed in Jammu and Kashmir.

Modi stressed that revoking Article 370 was a way to bring Ambedkar's Constitution to the entire country, including Jammu and Kashmir. He saw this as his tribute to Ambedkar, symbolizing unity and equality.
