Rekha Gupta to take oath as Delhi’s 4th woman CM today at grand ceremony
Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Delhi today at Ramlila Maidan. This event marks BJP’s return to power in the capital after 27 years. The new Delhi government will include six cabinet ministers, one of whom is Parvesh Verma, who defeated former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the elections.
Grand ceremony and security arrangements
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be a grand affair with around 50,000 attendees, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, chief ministers of NDA-ruled states, and several prominent guests. The BJP has also invited RSS leaders, religious figures, industrialists, celebrities, auto drivers, farmers, and women from the "Ladli Behna" scheme.
Security arrangements are strict, with over 25,000 personnel, including the National Security Guard, Delhi Police, and Rapid Action Force, deployed to ensure safety at Ramlila Maidan. The ceremony is scheduled for 12:15 PM.
