However, he assumed the role of assistant coach for the game. To make this possible, Messi had to complete the necessary paperwork with FIFA, allowing him to be in the dugout rather than on the field.

In the World Cup qualifier against Bolivia, Messi watched from the bench as Argentina secured a 3-0 victory, with goals from Enzo Fernandez, Nicolas Tagliafico, and Nicolas Gonzalez. Despite not playing, Messi's presence was felt, and Argentina maintained their top position in the CONMEBOL qualifiers, level with Brazil.

Messi's reason for absence

Messi himself attributed his absence to fatigue, stating, "I was a little tired, so it happened that I went out, and surely it won't be the last time I go out during matches." It's evident that Messi's dedication to his national team remains unwavering.
