Iranian Athlete Sadegh Beit Sayah disqualified, resulting in Navdeep's Gold Medal upgrade at Paralym

Sadegh Beit Sayah disqualified; Navdeep upgraded to Gold

Iranian javelin thrower Sadegh Beit Sayah faced a major setback at the Paris Paralympics when he was disqualified from the men’s javelin throw F41 final. Sadegh threw an impressive 47.64 meters in his fifth attempt, breaking the Paralympic record and securing the top position. However, after the final round, he was disqualified for violating rule 8.1 of the World Para Athletics Rules and Regulations, which relates to conduct and ethics.

Although the exact reason for his disqualification wasn't revealed, there are rumors that it may have been related to Sadegh displaying a black flag with Arabic text during the competition. As a result, his record-breaking effort was annulled, and India’s Navdeep Singh, who had initially won the silver, was upgraded to gold.

Navdeep Singh’s journey to Gold

Navdeep Singh, who had finished fourth in Tokyo, made a strong comeback in Paris. He began the final round with a foul attempt, struggling to maintain control. In his third attempt, however, Navdeep threw 47.32 meters, breaking the previous Paralympic record and moving to the top of the leaderboard.

Though Sadegh's disqualification handed Navdeep the gold medal, his remarkable performance in the final ensured India’s place at the top. The F41 category is for athletes with short stature, and Navdeep's victory was a proud moment for India on the global stage.
