Iranian politicians' Twitter account has been suspended
Iranian politicians' Twitter account suspended due to threatening video
Twitter stated it had permanently suspended accounts associated to Iran's Supreme Leader and aired a video calling for vengeance on former US President Donald Trump for the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader General Qasem Soleimani.
A Twitter spokeswoman informed AFP that "the relevant account has been permanently terminated for breaking our ban evasion policy."
This Monday, the account @KhameneiSite tweeted an animated video depicting an unmanned aircraft aimed at Trump, who ordered a drone strike in Baghdad two years ago that killed top Iranian commander General Qassem Soleimani.
The primary accounts of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in multiple languages are still functioning. Last year, Twitter suspended another similar account for a tweet that appeared to mirror Trump's retaliation.
Khamenei's official website also included a recent video titled "Revenge is Definite."
Twitter's primary aim, according to the firm, is to keep people safe while also protecting the health of the platform's dialogue.
The social media behemoth claims to have clear regulations in place regarding abusive behaviour and that it will take action if violations are discovered.
Soleimani was the architect of Iran's Middle East strategy as the leader of the Quds Force, the Revolutionary Guards' foreign operations wing.
On January 3, 2020, a US drone strike killed him and his Iraqi lieutenant outside Baghdad airport.
Trump's followers frequently criticise the Republican billionaire's exclusion from Twitter, pointing out that some leaders deemed authoritarian by the US are permitted to post on the network.
