It Ends With Us sequel hit by Lively-Baldoni dispute

Sequel to It Ends With Us faces challenges due to Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni rift

It Starts With Us, Colleen Hoover’s 2022 bestseller, continues the story from her 2016 book and is set a few months after the first part ends. The sequel is anticipated following the success of the first film, which grossed over $200 million globally. However, there are complications due to a rumored rift between co-stars and co-producers Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

Rift and production hurdles

Tension between Blake and Justin reportedly emerged after they finished filming *It Ends With Us*. They have not promoted the film together, and there are rumors that Blake edited the film differently from Justin’s version. Allegations include claims that Justin fat-shamed Blake and that Blake’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, contributed a key scene, which might have affected Justin’s credit.

Justin, who directed the first film, is open to letting Blake direct the sequel. Yet, as the primary producer with rights to the book adaptations, Justin's role in the sequel remains crucial. The unresolved issues could potentially affect the film's production and the future of their collaboration.
