Jaishankar meets Harris's NSA in key diplomatic discussion

Jaishankar engages with Kamala Harris's NSA in significant diplomatic meeting

Kangana Ranaut has stirred up a political controversy with her recent social media post on Gandhi Jayanti. On this day, India commemorates the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. In her Instagram stories, Kangana wrote, “Desh ke pita nahi, desh ke to lal hote hai. Dhanye hain Bharat maa ke ye lal,” which translates to “The country does not have fathers; it has sons. Blessed are these sons of Mother India.”

Her comments were criticized by the Congress party, who felt that she was undermining Gandhi's importance as the Father of the Nation. In another post, Kangana praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for continuing Gandhi's legacy of cleanliness, leading to further backlash from Congress leaders. Supriya Shrinate from Congress labeled her comments as “lewd” and questioned Modi's support for someone she called a "Godse devotee." She stated, “Godse worshippers draw distinctions between Bapu and Shastri ji. Everyone deserves respect.”

Political responses to Kangana's remarks

In response to the controversy, Manoranjan Kalia, a senior BJP leader from Punjab, criticized Kangana’s remarks on Gandhi Jayanti. He stated that politics is not her area of expertise and that she has developed a pattern of making controversial statements. Kalia emphasized that politics is a serious matter and urged Kangana to think before speaking, as her comments could cause trouble for the party.

This incident comes shortly after Kangana faced backlash for her comments supporting the return of the now-repealed farm laws. She claimed that the farmers' protests against these laws were leading to a dangerous situation in India. Following the criticism, Kangana stated that her views did not represent the ideology of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
