Julie Chrisley's 7-year sentence for fraud upheld

Julie Chrisley resentenced to 7 years in prison for fraud and tax evasion as judge upholds ruling

Julie Chrisley, a reality TV star, was resentenced to seven years in prison for bank fraud and tax evasion. A federal judge rejected her request for a reduced sentence. Julie and her husband, Todd Chrisley, were found guilty of defrauding banks out of $30 million by submitting fake loan documents. They also hid earnings to avoid paying taxes.

Although Julie’s lawyer argued that she played a minor role in the crimes and should get a lesser sentence, the judge disagreed. The court also noted that while Julie had shown good behavior in prison, it didn’t erase her years of committing fraud.

Family impact and appeal

Julie’s lawyer mentioned that her two youngest children are struggling without their mother. However, the prosecutor pointed out that Julie’s actions led to this situation. Julie apologized in court for her role in the crimes and said her time in prison has been the hardest experience of her life.

Her daughter, Savannah Chrisley, blamed the sentencing on political reasons, suggesting it was influenced by an Obama-appointed judge. Despite this, the judge upheld the seven-year sentence, and Julie plans to appeal.

Todd Chrisley is also serving a 12-year sentence. Both were ordered to pay $4.7 million in restitution.
