Kisan Congress rally in UP from Jan 18

All India Kisan Congress to launch rally in Uttar Pradesh from January 18

The All India Kisan Congress, the farmer wing of the Congress party, has announced a significant march titled 'Kisan-Mazdoor Samman Evam Nyay Yatra' in Uttar Pradesh. This rally is set to begin on January 18, 2025, with the aim of highlighting issues faced by farmers and laborers. The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) issued a statement on Friday confirming this initiative.

Meeting to prepare for yatra

Under the leadership of Ajay Rai, the state unit chief of UPCC, a meeting was held to finalize preparations for the upcoming yatra. Rai strongly criticized both the central and Uttar Pradesh governments for their alleged neglect and suppression of farmers, laborers, and artisans. “The government has failed to fulfill its promise of providing a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers,” he said. This issue, according to Rai, has left many farmers feeling abandoned and ignored.

Akhilesh Shukla, the National Vice President of the All India Kisan Congress, provided more details about the yatra. It will start at the Loni border in Ghaziabad and move across every district in Uttar Pradesh. The march will be led by designated coordinators who will work under the guidance of national and state leadership.

During the rally, the Congress plans to mobilize 300 “Kisan Nyay Yodhas” (farm justice warriors) from each district. By the end of the yatra, a grand conference will be organized with participants from all 75 districts of the state. The conference is expected to see a turnout of 22,500 Kisan Yodhas.

Future plans for Farmer empowerment

Shukla revealed an ambitious goal to select 300 Kisan Nyay Yodhas from every assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh by 2027. The Congress aims to hold a mega farmers’ conference before the state’s next assembly elections, bringing together 1,20,900 Kisan Yodhas. This initiative aims to empower farmers and amplify their voices in policymaking.

To ensure smooth execution, the All India Kisan Congress has appointed national coordinators at the divisional level. Additionally, office bearers from other states will act as coordinators at the district level. Local Kisan Congress officials in Uttar Pradesh will oversee the organization of the yatra, ensuring discipline and coordination throughout.

The Congress’ farmer wing is determined to make this rally a platform for addressing farmer grievances and holding the government accountable for its promises. With such extensive planning and participation, the yatra aims to reignite farmer movements in Uttar Pradesh.
