Lord Ram to be consecrated as king at Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir in May

Ayodhya is getting ready for another important religious event at the Ram Mandir. After more than a year since the "pran pratishtha" (consecration) of Ram Lalla in January 2024, a new ceremony is planned for May 2025. This time, it will be Lord Ram’s coronation as King. The event will happen after the Ram Durbar (royal court of Ram) is installed on the first floor of the temple.

According to reports, the upcoming event will be simpler than the grand celebrations held last year. In 2024, the consecration was attended by over 8,000 people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This time, the ceremony will be more modest, but equally significant for followers of Lord Ram.

The Ram Mandir construction began in 2020 after a historic Supreme Court verdict. The court had ordered the formation of a trust to oversee the temple’s construction. Since then, work has been steadily progressing. Now, the construction is nearly finished. Nripendra Misra, former principal secretary to the Prime Minister, is currently the head of the temple construction committee.

Misra shared that about 20,000 cubic feet of stone still needs to be laid. He added that most construction work will be completed by April 15. The statues to be installed around and within the temple complex will also be placed between March 25 and April 30.

The Ram Lalla idol, showing Lord Ram as a child, was made by Karnataka sculptor Arun Yogiraj. For the Ram Durbar setup, 20 artisans from Jaipur are carving it using white Makrana marble. They are working under the guidance of sculptor Prashant Pandey.

Once complete, the Ram Mandir will stand 380 feet long, 250 feet wide, and 161 feet high. It will be built in the traditional Nagara style of architecture. The structure will have 392 beautifully carved pillars and 44 intricately designed doors. The entire complex will reflect Indian heritage and devotion.

As of now, 90% of the temple work is done. Last year, only the ground floor and the sanctum sanctorum—the temple’s holiest part—were complete for the pran pratishtha ceremony. The remaining floors, spires, and other parts have since been under construction and are now almost finished.

One of the important additions to the temple complex is the statue of Saint Tulsidas. He was the poet who wrote the Ramcharitmanas, a popular version of the Ramayana. His statue will be placed near the temple to honor his contribution to Indian spiritual culture.

Besides the temple, the area around it is also being beautified. Nearly 20 acres of land around the temple will be landscaped to keep the surroundings green and peaceful. The entire layout is being planned in such a way that it remains close to nature.

A major attraction that is being developed is the International Ramkatha Museum. It will be located about 4 kilometers from the main temple site. This museum will offer a special experience to visitors. It will include a hologram of Lord Ram, which will give a lifelike view of Him. The museum will also use immersive technology to present events from the Ramayana in a way that feels real and engaging.

One section of the museum will document the 200-year-long journey of the Ram Temple movement. Visitors will also be able to see artefacts that were found during archaeological excavations at the site. These historical items will help tell the story of the temple and its cultural significance over the centuries.

The goal of the entire project is not just to build a temple but to create a spiritual and cultural hub for people from all over India and the world. The Ram Mandir is being developed as a symbol of devotion, pride, and Indian identity.

In summary, the Ayodhya Ram Mandir is moving toward its final phase. With the installation of the Ram Durbar and Lord Ram’s coronation in May, another spiritual milestone will be reached. The temple’s structure and surroundings are being carefully prepared to welcome devotees in a grand and meaningful way. Once completed, the site is expected to draw millions of visitors every year, becoming a major center of religious and cultural tourism in India.
