Dr. Divjot Singh, the nodal officer, shared that the positive patient had four primary contacts, all of whom are currently asymptomatic. Swine flu, caused by the highly infectious H1N1 virus, prompted health officials to establish flu corners in government hospitals throughout the state. Patients exhibiting influenza-like symptoms, including cough, cold, and fever, are being isolated to prevent the spread of the virus.

Health response and preparedness

As the swine flu cases rise, health authorities in Punjab remain vigilant. They have implemented measures such as flu corners and isolation protocols to manage patients with influenza-like illnesses. The focus is on early detection, contact tracing, and providing necessary medical care to prevent further transmission of the virus in the community.
