Union Home Minister Amit Shah has officially confirmed his visit to the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. During a recent event in Gujarat, where he inaugurated a Hindu Spiritual Fair, Amit Shah revealed that he would take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam on January 27, 2025. Shah shared that this would be his 10th Kumbh bath, emphasizing its spiritual significance in his life.
Shah invited everyone, especially the youth of Gujarat, to participate in the Mahakumbh. He highlighted how the event fosters unity and harmony, where millions of devotees come together without any distinctions of religion, caste, or community. Shah described the Mahakumbh as an extraordinary occasion that amazes people worldwide due to its sheer scale and the values it represents.
Unity and harmony at Mahakumbh
Amit Shah explained how the Mahakumbh symbolizes harmony, as people gather, share meals, and take holy dips without discrimination. He also shared an anecdote about ambassadors from different countries requesting formal invitations to attend the Mahakumbh. Shah told them that no formal invites are issued, yet millions gather voluntarily. This aspect left them astonished, as 40 crore people come together for such a massive event.

Several prominent leaders are expected to visit the Mahakumbh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit on February 5, where he will also take a dip in the Sangam. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is set to arrive on February 1, followed by President Droupadi Murmu on February 10. Recently, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and former President Ram Nath Kovind also visited the event and took part in the holy rituals.
In addition, notable figures like billionaire Gautam Adani and poet Kumar Vishwas have participated in the Mahakumbh. The spiritual event has attracted millions from around the globe, with over 10 crore people visiting so far.
This year’s Mahakumbh is a special occasion, marking the first “Full Mahakumbh” in 144 years. Such a significant event occurs only after 12 Kumbh cycles. The last Mahakumbh took place in 2013, and now, in 2025, the celebration has returned to Prayagraj. Starting from January 13, the event will continue until February 26, lasting 45 days.
