On Republic Day, Uttar Pradesh showcased its rich spiritual and cultural heritage through a stunning tableau in New Delhi. The tableau, titled “Mahakumbh: Golden India Heritage and Development,” captured the nation’s attention with its inspiring display. Sanskrit shlokas echoed as the presentation unfolded, complemented by a beautiful song written by poet Virendra Vats. This unique song blended Sanskrit and Hindi, adding a special charm to the performance.
Samudra Manthan comes alive
The centerpiece of the tableau was a visual depiction of the legendary tale of Samudra Manthan (the Churning of the Ocean). It featured Nagavasuki, the divine serpent, coiled around Mount Mandarachal. Lord Vishnu, in his tortoise avatar, was shown supporting the mountain while gods and demons worked together to churn the ocean for the nectar of immortality.
In the second part of the tableau, saints blew conches, and women in traditional dresses sang and danced gracefully, balancing urns on their heads. Their joyful movements added to the vibrant display of Indian culture and tradition.
