Maharashtra CM Claims Strong Support, Defends Inclusion of NCP Faction

In a rally held in Kolhapur district, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured his party members that the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP government was not on the verge of collapse. He asserted that his government had the support of 220 out of the 288 legislators in the Maharashtra Assembly. Shinde defended the inclusion of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction, stating that it was necessary for certain political equations.

Addressing the concerns of his party workers, Shinde emphasized that he would ensure no injustice was done to any Shiv Sena member. He referred to the resentment regarding Ajit Pawar being given the Finance portfolio, highlighting the differences in fund allocation during the previous government. Shinde assured his supporters that as Chief Minister, he would prevent any discrimination against Shiv Sainiks.

He praised Deputy CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis while taking jabs at Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. Shinde credited Fadnavis for maintaining coalition dharma between the BJP and Sena, claiming that Fadnavis always strived to prevent the alliance from breaking. He also accused Thackeray of hindering his chances of becoming Deputy CM, suggesting that Thackeray's actions went against the ideals of late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.

Shinde's statewide tour aimed to strengthen his party's base amidst internal dissent regarding Ajit Pawar's inclusion in the government. Speculation arose that 16 rebel legislators from Shinde's camp could face disqualification following a Supreme Court judgment in May.

The CM emphasized the emotional bond and ideological unity between the Shiv Sena and BJP, stating that their alliance was not driven by selfishness or political expediency. He highlighted that Ajit Pawar joined the government after witnessing its work and accepting Prime Minister Modi's leadership.

Shinde's statements aimed to reassure his party members, dispel rumors of a government collapse, and reaffirm his commitment to the welfare of Shiv Sena members. By addressing concerns and expressing confidence in his government's stability, Shinde sought to consolidate support and maintain unity within the ruling coalition.
