Multi-level Parking Scam
Multi-level parking scam should be probed by CBI against Executive Engineer: Pardeep Chhabra
Municipal Corporation should compensate for the loss through Executive Engineer: Pardeep Chhabra
Chandigarh: Former Mayor Pardeep Chhabra has demanded a CBI inquiry into the leakage in the multilevel parking in Sector-17
Pardeep Chhabra said that the report of the committees was stated to be a departmental mistake behind the leakage in multilevel parking. Despite this, the municipal corporation did not take departmental inquiry and strict action against the executive engineer of that time, which is a big question. It is clear that substandard material was used in the construction of multilevel parking, which would not have been possible without the connivance of municipal officials. It is worth mentioning that the executive engineer of the Municipal Corporation, against whom Pardeep Chhabra has made serious allegations, was put on deputation from Punjab, who is still posted in the Municipal Corporation even after the passage of nearly 10 years. The Municipal Corporation officials are kind to the Executive Engineer and are constantly engaged in giving extensions, while the Chandigarh Administration has ordered that all the officers called for deputation should be released on time. Pardeep Chhabra said that in this case, the district court has asked the corporation to return the security money of Rs 5.50 crore to the company. The 10 per cent payment on security money will range from giving legal notice to filing of the case and 12 per cent interest from filing the case till the verdict is pronounced. Who is responsible for this loss, the municipal corporation should clear. Pardeep Chhabra said that this loss should be compensated by the executive engineer. The corrupt people sitting in the municipal corporation are converting public money into black money. In the multilevel parking scam, the role of the executive engineer of the municipal corporation has been executed. Pardeep Chhabra alleged that the local commissioner and the IIT Ropar team have questioned the officials of the corporation for the leakage. Vigilance reported the matter on May 15, 2019. It was admitted that the mistakes were made by the department. The report asked for action against those found negligent and seeking expert advice. The corporation asked IIT Ropar to check the parking. In the report on December 31, 2019, the expert questioned the structure of the parking lot, describing the company's work as good.
