Neeraj Chopra hints at Surgery after Olympic Silver

After winning Silver at Paris Olympics, Neeraj Chopra hints at Surgery for persistent injury

After winning a silver medal in men's javelin at the Paris Olympics 2024, Neeraj Chopra was more focused on his challenges than celebrating. He had hoped to win back-to-back gold medals, a rare achievement in Olympic history. Despite his best throw of 88.54m, he was frustrated by a recurring groin injury that affected his performance.

Injury and future plans

Chopra has struggled with this groin issue for several years, which has limited his ability to throw as far as he knows he can. He plans to consult doctors and may consider surgery to address the problem long-term. Chopra has previously dealt with this injury by focusing on managing pain rather than improving his technique, which has impacted his performance.

Chopra acknowledged that even though he didn't reach his goal of a 90m throw, winning a medal for India was still significant. He praised his competitor, Arshad Nadeem, who set a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97m. Chopra hopes to overcome his injury and reach his full potential in future competitions.
