New Noida: A Vision for Balanced Urban Growth in the National Capital Region

In response to the increasing population and the need for more land for industries, the Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh has put forth a plan to establish a new township near Delhi. This upcoming township, named "New Noida," will be created within the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi and will focus on industrial development.

The New Township Plan

The Greater Noida Authority has given the green light to the proposal for creating the New Noida township. This idea has been crafted in collaboration with the Delhi School of Architecture. The township is designed to cover areas from Bulandshahr and Gautam Buddh Nagar districts. Specifically, it will incorporate 20 villages from Gautam Buddh Nagar, 60 from Bulandshahr, and six from Ghaziabad district.

Features of New Noida

New Noida will be a well-rounded township with spaces for residences, businesses, and Special Economic Zones (SEZ). The plan for the township includes more than just these basic components. It also envisions a logistics hub, a knowledge center, a skill development center, and universities. These additions are intended to provide a comprehensive and beneficial environment for both residents and businesses.

Land Acquisition and Funding

Following the approval from the board, the process of acquiring the necessary land will soon begin. The Greater Noida Authority has allocated ₹1,000 crore in its budget for this fiscal year to cover the expenses of land acquisition and internal development for the proposed township. The initial phase of New Noida is expected to accommodate around six lakh people. Over the coming months, the plan is to acquire approximately 21,000 hectares of land from 86 villages.

Industrial and Residential Layout

The blueprint for New Noida designates around 8,100 hectares of land for industrial use and an additional 2,000 hectares for residential purposes. Furthermore, about 1,600 hectares of land will be dedicated to educational institutions and knowledge centers. Officials from the Greater Noida Authority note that the existing townships within the NCR have reached their limits due to the increasing demand for land. The introduction of New Noida aims to provide a solution for accommodating the growing population in the region.

The establishment of New Noida as a special investment region holds promise for addressing the challenges posed by a rising population and the need for more industrial space. This well-thought-out plan encompasses various aspects of urban development, making space for industries, residences, and educational institutions.
