No immediate plan to evacuate Indians from Ukraine :MEA.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday that there is no imminent intention to remove Indian people from Ukraine, which is in the midst of a crisis and faces Russian invasion. Arindam Bagchi, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of External Affairs, stated at a press conference that India is continually watching the situation on the ground. "Because this is a live situation, a control room has been established." "We're still keeping an eye on the situation on the ground," he said.

The MEA further stated that the focus is and will continue to be on Indian nationals in Ukraine. "There are no immediate plans for evacuation." The restriction on air bubbles has been relaxed. Bagchi stated that "chartered flights are also being pushed to fly." 

He went on to state that India's position on the matter is "clear and consistent," and that New Delhi's "position is obvious and consistent." "Under the Normandy model and the Minsk agreement, we have been supportive of a resolution and lowering of tensions," he added.

The Indian embassy in Ukraine issued a new advisory on Wednesday, stressing that it is continuing to provide all services to its citizens in the country despite the escalation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

The embassy in Kyiv issued a FAQ on Twitter, stating that it is continuing to monitor the situation on a regular basis and requesting that Indian nationals read the paper. The embassy urged Indians to "remain cool and avoid causing panic."

Russia declared a new military retreat from the occupied Crimean peninsula on Thursday, despite earlier announcements being met with scepticism by Ukraine's Western partners. "Units of the southern military district are returning by rail to their permanent locations after completing tactical exercises on the Crimean peninsula," the defence ministry said in a statement reported by Russian news outlets.

The announcement on Thursday is the latest in a series of reported reductions in a Russian military force estimated by the West to number over 100,000 troops, which Washington had claimed was ready to invade.

Meanwhile, Bagchi said the Indian high commission has already issued an advise in response to the demonstrations in Canada against Covid-19 vaccination mandates. In the aftermath of trucker protests in Ottawa and other major Canadian cities, the Indian High Commission in Canada issued an advise on February 9 advising Indian nationals staying in the country or wanting to visit to take a "high degree of vigilance."
