NSS Camp inaugurated at Government College of Education in Chandigarh
A week-long National Service Scheme (NSS) camp, themed "Not me but you," commenced at Government College of Education (GCE) in Chandigarh's Sector 20 D. The inauguration event was graced by distinguished guests, including UIDAI Deputy Director General Bhawna Garg, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anindita Mitra, and NSS State Liaison Officer Dr. Nemi Chand.
Camp inauguration:
The event began with the college anthem, a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, and the chanting of a shabad (a Sikh hymn). College Principal Sapna Nanda extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests.

NSS Program In-Charge Ravneet Chawla introduced the layout of the NSS program to the audience and guests. A special highlight of the occasion was the unveiling of a college NSS newsletter—a pioneering initiative aimed at documenting NSS initiatives. Chawla spearheaded the creation of this newsletter under the guidance of the college principal.
Keynote addresses:
Bhawna Garg delivered a keynote address, emphasizing the significance of community service and its positive impact on society. She stressed the importance of self-awareness and wholehearted engagement in one's tasks. Anindita Mitra provided valuable insights to students, motivating them to actively participate in community service. Dr. Nemi Chand addressed the students, outlining the goals and objectives of the NSS program and encouraging students to seize the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
The week-long NSS special camp focuses on the "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" theme with the sub-theme "Saying yes to life." Activities include daily self-defense training, the "Yes+" program in collaboration with the Art of Living and Chandigarh, sensitization on cleanliness, personality development, employment registration, career preparation, and discussions on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Volunteers will extend their activities to the adopted Kajheri village and conduct a blood donation drive. The camp aims to instill a sense of responsibility, compassion, and empathy in students for personal and professional growth. Dr. Ravinder Kumar, NSS Program Officer, extended formal gratitude to the guests and all participants.
