On R-Day, Navy tableau will depict the 1946 rebellion

At this year’s Republic Day parade, the Indian Navy’s tableau will commemorate the 1946 naval rebellion, which contributed to the country’s independence movement, and its marching unit will be headed by a woman officer.

The theme of the navy will also be displayed in the tableau: ‘Combat Ready, Credible, and Cohesive.’

The navy said in a statement that the detachment consists of 96 troops, three platoon leaders, and one contingent commander.

Lieutenant Commander Aanchal Sharma, an observation officer assigned to Indian Naval Air Squadron (INAS) 314, will be in charge.

Sharma, who was commissioned in June 2016, said the contingent’s excitement and intensity are unmatched, and it is a privilege to be leading it in the Republic Day parade.

The navy’s participation to the Indian liberation movement will be highlighted in the tableau as the country commemorates 75 years of independence as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ according to the statement.

The forward half of the tableau, according to Lieutenant Mayank Bhagour, shows “the naval rebellion of 1946, an event that helped to India’s quest for freedom.”

According to him, the back side of the tableau depicts the Indian Navy’s ‘Make in India’ activities, particularly from 1983 to 2021.

According to Bhagour, the model of the indigenous aircraft carrier Vikrant with Light Combat Aircraft in the air takes centre stage.

On the left, models of the indigenous missile corvette Kora, destroyer Visakhapatnam, and frigate Shivalik will be displayed, while on the right, models of the P-75 submarine Kalvari, frigate Godavari, and destroyer Delhi will be displayed.

Frames on the trailer’s lower half will reflect indigenous naval platform building, according to Bhagour.

According to the Indian Navy’s announcement, Vincent Johnson, Master Chief Petty Officer Musician and Hon Sub Lieutenant, would lead the parade’s 72-man band.

It was also stated that this will be his 18th time participating in a Republic Day Parade. As a drum major, he would lead the naval band, according to the statement.
