Tripura Cyclone claims one life, leaves three fishermen missing in Dhalai District

At least four fishermen are missing at the Dumboor reservoir in Tripura's Dhalai district following a cyclone that struck on Saturday night. Officials reported that one body, identified as Haridas Das (46), has been recovered with the help of local civil defence and fire services personnel. Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed condolences to the deceased's family and assured ongoing search efforts for the remaining three missing persons.

Assistance and damage assessment:

CM Saha acknowledged the extensive damage caused by the cyclone, including in Sepahijala, South, and Khowai districts. The state administration has pledged support to affected individuals and has provided financial aid to severely and fully damaged houses. As per natural calamity rules, the government is committed to assisting victims and ensuring their welfare. Reports from the State Emergency Operation Centre indicate significant property damage across the state, with a focus on providing relief and aid to affected households.

Weather forecast and precautions:

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers in some areas of Tripura in the next 24 hours. Minimum temperatures are expected to be around 20°C, with a rise to 32°C on Monday. Additionally, the IMD has issued warnings for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in isolated areas of the state. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during adverse weather conditions.
