Osmania University reinstates that they won’t allow Rahul Gandhi to enter premises for physical interaction with students

Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University on May 2 said he would not allow the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to conduct a physical interactive session with the students in the university premises. His statement comes after the Telangana High Court had asked him to take a decision on the matter.

"Our decision to not allow Rahul Gandhi into University premises will be the same. He will not be allowed to conduct any face-to-face physical interaction with students. The decision taken earlier will remain the same," The Vice-Chancellor Ravinder Yadav said. In the plea filed by some university students seeking a direction to the VC to grant permission for the Congress Leader's event, Telangana High Court asked Ravinder Yadav to consider the plea of students and later take a decision.

Advocate Karunakar Reddy, Counsel of Congress leader Manvata Roy, said, "The High Court passed an order asking the VC to consider the requisition filed by the Congress leader. The administration has also submitted an order from Osmania University stating that there can be a Law and Order problem since NGOs polls are scheduled, and MBA and PG exams are scheduled. There is also a resolution passed by varsity executive counsel in the year 2021 to not allow any political events inside the university premises, and that was the reason permission to Rahul Gandhi event was denied.

Earlier on Monday(May 2), Telangana Congress leader Revanth Reddy stated that Rahul Gandhi will meet the members of the National Students' Union of India in the Chanchalguda jail who were detained for organising a protest outside the administration building of Osmania University in the city of Hyderabad.

The NSUI members notably protested outside the University seeking permission for Rahul Gandhi's visit to the campus on May 7, following which the police detained them and later then registered a case for 'obstructing the public servant in conducting their duty. Earlier on Sunday(May 1), Ramesh Naik, Circle Inspector(CI), stated that 18 people who were protesting were taken into custody.

"Eighteen people who were protesting in the administration's building have been taken into custody. When we tried to stop the agitators, they pushed our staff, including lady constables. Agitators also pelted stones to break the glasses on the window and went inside the building. A case has also been registered under obstructing the public servant in conducting their duty," said Ramesh Naik, the Circle Inspector. The Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be visiting the state of Telangana for a two-day visit on May 6 and 7.
