OYO terminates contract with hotel over allegations of flesh trade

OYO, a hospitality technology company, has cut ties with Sheetla Hotel in Noida after allegations surfaced regarding its involvement in flesh trade. The company plans legal action to ensure accountability.

Allegations and response

Following a police raid earlier this month, OYO conducted an investigation prompted by allegations against Sheetla Hotel. The raid, conducted by the police and anti-human trafficking unit, resulted in arrests and the rescue of women and minors.

Upon reviewing the situation, OYO found inconsistencies in the hotel's business practices even before the allegations arose. Despite this, OYO decided to terminate its contract with the hotel as part of its commitment to promoting safe hospitality.

Commitment to safety

OYO maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal activities on its premises. It appreciates those who brought the allegations forward and encourages others to do the same. The company is working closely with law enforcement to ensure a safe environment for guests.

Pawas Kumar, OYO's north India head, emphasized the company's commitment to enhanced monitoring and auditing procedures to prevent such incidents in the future. OYO's national program, launched in November 2023, aims to promote safe hospitality in partnership with law enforcement agencies.

As part of this initiative, OYO has organized joint seminars with police in various cities, bringing together stakeholders from the hospitality industry, law enforcement, and hotel partners. The company remains dedicated to creating a safe environment for guests and working in close partnership with local communities and law enforcement agencies.
