Pankaj Rai appointed as PGIMER's new DDA in Chandigarh

Pankaj Rai, a 2014-batch Himachal Pradesh-cadre IAS officer, has been selected as the Deputy Director Administration (DDA) at PGIMER, Chandigarh. The appointment follows the conclusion of Kumar Gaurav Dhawan's tenure on November 14, leaving the position vacant.

Rai's appointment details

The Union Ministry of Family Welfare and Health, in a letter to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary, has confirmed Rai's appointment on deputation for a four-year term or until further orders. Currently serving as the Special Secretary of Education in Himachal Pradesh since March 2023, Rai brings valuable administrative experience to his new role. Previously, he held the position of Deputy Commissioner of Bilaspur.

Transition process

Rai is expected to take charge of the DDA position shortly, following the necessary administrative procedures. His tenure is set to extend until 2027, aligning with his retirement date. The Union Ministry has formally requested the Himachal Pradesh government to facilitate Rai's transition to PGIMER by relieving him of his current duties and providing the necessary instructions for his assignment in Chandigarh.

"I have been informed about my selection as a DDA. I will join my new position shortly," commented Rai on his appointment.
