District administrations play a critical role in effective governance. It aids the government in better implementing initiatives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked on Saturday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with district magistrates from around the country on Saturday to discuss the implementation of key government programmers. “The role of district administrations in good governance is critical. It assists the government in better implementing the initiatives. Field visits and inspections should have detailed” Prime Minister Modi stated.

Several state chief ministers also took part in the discussion. Here are some of the key points from PM Modi’s remarks during the meeting:

- Collaboration between the federal government, states, and local governments yields positive results in aspirational areas

- Officials in aspirational districts are now ecstatic when they see people’s lives improve as a result of their efforts.

- Every district should learn from others’ successes while simultaneously assessing its own issues.

- To ensure ‘top to bottom’ as well as ‘bottom to top’ governance flow, a direct, emotional connection between administration and the people is required.

- Aspirational districts have demonstrated that breaking down silos in the implementation phase can turn one and one into eleven.

- The government has identified 142 districts in 22 states that are falling behind on just one or two metrics; they should view this as a challenge to overcome.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister requested that DMs make plans to provide various government benefits to all citizens in their districts in a timely way. He also asked them to make it a mission to make their districts more recognizable on a worldwide scale.

In a video conference with district magistrates, the Prime Minister remarked, “We have to accomplish 100% saturation between service and facilities for each district with a time-bound aim and build a roadmap of short visions for districts that can be completed in the next two years.”
