PM Modi: 2022’s First Mann Ki Baat

In the first broadcast of this year’s ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Sunday. The address coincided with the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi; hence instead of its usual starting time of 11am, it commenced at 11.30am.

Modi spoke about a variety of issues during his address, including receiving one crore letters from the country’s youth and the recently deceased Collarwali tigress.

The Prime Minister has urged individuals to share their opinions for this episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ as well as to visit the National War Memorial and fight corruption.

“On the 30th of this month, the first #MannKiBaat of 2022 will take place. I am sure you have lots to share in terms of inspiring life stories and topics. Share them on @mygovindia or the NaMo App. Record your message by dialing 1800-11-7800,” PM Modi tweeted.

Highlights from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat:

• Modi asked citizens of the country to pay a visit to New Delhi’s National War Memorial. “We have seen the ‘Amar Jawan Jyoti’ near India Gate and the flame at the neighboring National War Memorial merged into one…” “Amar Jawan Jyoti (at the National War Memorial) is a wonderful monument to martyrs,” he remarked.

• The PM talked about receiving one crore postcards from the youngsters of the country, which shed light on their dreams of India on the country’s 100th year of independence. He read out some postcards that he received from various parts of the country, including Prayagraj and Goa, among others. Modi mentioned Riddhima Swargiyari, an Assamese girl in class 7, and her postcard. She stated in the note that she desires for India to become the cleanest country in the world on its 100th anniversary of independence.

• Modi said he received 75 postcards from Croatia celebrating India’s 75th anniversary of independence, known as the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Students from Croatia’s Zagreb’s Faculty of Applied Arts and Design sent him these postcards.

• While sharing stories of Indian citizens and their good deeds, the Prime Minister mentioned Tayammal, a Tamil Nadu woman who donated Rs. 1 lakh to a school with money she earned from selling coconut water.

• He also praised Thounaojam Niranjoy Singh, a 24-year-old Manipur teenager who set a world record by performing 109 push-ups in one minute. PM Modi stated that this was not the first time the man has performed so many push-ups. “Previously, he held the world record for the most Knuckle push-ups done in a minute with one hand.” I am confident that Niranjoy Singh would motivate you to make physical fitness a priority in your life.”

• He mentioned a new open synthetic track and astro turf football facility in Ladakh that has got FIFA certification. According to him, the stadium would be built at a height of over 10,000 feet and will be the largest open stadium in the Union territory, with a capacity of 30,000 people.

• The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the famous Collarwali tigress, who died recently in Madhya Pradesh’s Pench Tiger Reserve. “I’m sure you’ve seen these photos on social media as well. “The globe over, Indians’ passion for nature and living beings was much recognised,” he remarked. PM Modi also mentioned the top horse Virat, who took part in this year’s Republic Day parade. “In recognition of Virat’s significant contributions, he was farewelled in a similarly magnificent manner after his retirement,” he added.

• Modi praised the country’s citizens, especially the youth, for their efforts to receive Covid-19 vaccines. He said that 4.5 crore young people had already received vaccine doses since the programme began. He went on to say that one crore people had received the Covid-19 vaccine’s precautionary dosage in just 20 days.

• The PM highlighted the importance of the ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’ (cleanliness campaign), the vocal-for-local mantra, and the hazards of single-use plastic at the end of his speech. He concluded his speech by stressing that all Indians must work “wholeheartedly” for ‘Atma Nirbhar’ India, and that the country will reach “new heights of development” as a result of such efforts.
