PM Modi calls Sangam dip a blessing at Mahakumbh

"Blessed to be at Mahakumbh": PM Modi after taking Sangam dip

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj on Wednesday and took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers meet. Calling it a divine experience, he said, "I feel blessed to be at the Mahakumbh."

During the ritual, he held ‘rudraksh’ beads in his hand and was dressed in a deep orange jersey with blue lowers. He offered prayers to the sun and the Ganga while priests chanted mantras. After his dip, Modi shared pictures on social media, saying he felt peaceful and satisfied. He prayed for the happiness, health, and well-being of all Indians.

Boat ride to Sangam

Modi reached the Sangam via a boat ride from Arail Ghat, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. On the way, he waved at the thousands of devotees who had gathered on both sides of the riverbanks to see him.

His entire visit lasted about 90 minutes, with very little road travel. He landed at Prayagraj airport and was taken to the DPS helipad in an MI-17 helicopter. From there, he reached Arail Ghat, boarded a motorboat, and proceeded to the Sangam. During the boat ride, he also discussed the Mahakumbh arrangements with CM Yogi.

Security was tightened for his visit as polling was taking place in Delhi and the Milkipur bypoll in UP. However, devotees were still allowed to take a dip at other ghats.

Development projects in Prayagraj

Before the Mahakumbh began, Modi had visited Prayagraj on December 13 and launched 167 projects worth ₹5,500 crore. These projects aimed to improve railway stations, roads, power supply, drinking water facilities, and sewage systems. He also inaugurated major corridors, including the Akshayvat Corridor and the Bade Hanuman Mandir Corridor, to enhance the Mahakumbh experience and boost the city's development.

The Mahakumbh has been attracting millions of pilgrims from across India and abroad. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, over 38 crore pilgrims have visited the fair so far.
