In anticipation of his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored India's consistent commitment to climate action. He highlighted India's dedication to environmental causes during its G20 Presidency, emphasizing the prioritization of climate issues. PM Modi's departure statement, preceding the COP28 climate talks in Dubai, emphasized India's tangible achievements in renewable energy, energy efficiency, afforestation, energy conservation, and Mission LiFE.
India's Environmental achievements
PM Modi acknowledged India's achievements in various sectors related to climate action, showcasing the nation's commitment to environmental sustainability. He noted that India has consistently emphasized climate action while pursuing social and economic development. The G20 New Delhi Leaders' Declaration, during India's presidency, included substantial steps toward climate action and sustainable development.

Expressing eagerness for COP28, PM Modi expects the conference to build on the consensus achieved during the G20 Presidency. He emphasized that COP28 would provide an opportunity to assess progress under the Paris Agreement and set a course for future climate action.
Global South's voice on Climate Action
PM Modi highlighted the Voice of Global South Summit, where representatives from the Global South advocated for climate action based on equity, climate justice, and common but differentiated responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of supporting developing nations with climate financing and technology transfer to achieve sustainable development.
PM Modi's visit to Dubai is at the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The World Climate Action Summit of COP-28 is scheduled for December 1, 2023, under the UAE's presidency. The Prime Minister anticipates the event as a significant one, considering the UAE's crucial partnership with India in climate action. COP28 is set to take place in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023, with participation from global leaders, including PM Modi.
