Spectacular illumination: PM Modi shares stunning images from Ayodhya's 'Deepotsav' with 22 lakh lit diyas

Ayodhya made history on Saturday, breaking its own Guinness World Record by lighting over 22.23 lakh 'diyas' during 'Deepotsav 2023.' Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the event as "amazing, divine, and unforgettable," sharing pictures and expressing his wish for Lord Shri Ram to inspire the nation.

Ayodhya surpassed its previous record of 15.76 lakh 'diyas' with a breathtaking display of over 22.23 lakh lit lamps during 'Deepotsav 2023,' marking a new Guinness World Record. The festivities, initiated in 2017 under the Yogi Adityanath-led government, have grown exponentially each year, with 51,000 lamps in 2017, 4.10 lakh in 2019, 6 lakh in 2020, and over 17 lakh in 2022.

Ram Temple construction adds significance

This year's celebrations hold added significance with the ongoing construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The temple's inauguration is scheduled for January 22, 2024, and Prime Minister Modi is expected to attend.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi celebrated Diwali with the jawans in Lepcha, Himachal Pradesh, praising their courage and sacrifice. He highlighted their unwavering commitment and dedication to keeping the nation safe, acknowledging their sacrifices made in challenging terrains.

In his Diwali message, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the security forces, emphasizing their role as the embodiment of bravery and resilience in ensuring India's safety and security.
