PM Modi hit out at Punjab CM Charanjit Channi over his remark
PM Modi slams Priyanka Gandhi, saying, "Maalik was clapping"
Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi over his controversial “UP, Bihar ke bhaiye” comment, as well as Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, alleging the “family from Delhi was clapping.”
Charanjit Singh Channi made the statement while campaigning with Priyanka Gandhi on the road yesterday.
“The entire country has seen what the Congress Chief Minister said here. His maalik (boss) comes from Delhi, and that maalik was standing next to him, clapping “PM Modi made the remarks at a rally in Punjab ahead of the state’s election on Sunday.
Where was Guru Govind Singh born? In Patna Sahib, in Bihar. Will you throw Guru Govind Singh out of Punjab? People with such a divisive mindset should not be allowed to run Punjab for even a single second “The Prime Minister stated.
PM Modi also highlighted Dalit saint Guru Ravidas, whose birth anniversary was celebrated yesterday with various political figures suspending their campaigns to visit temples.
“Only yesterday we observed Sant Ravidas Jayanti. Where was he born? In Uttar Pradesh, in Varanasi. Will you remove Sant Ravidas from Punjab?” asked the Prime Minister.
“Priyanka Gandhi is Punjab’s daughter-in-law, she is the bahu of Punjabis. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi ke bhaiye cannot come here and rule. We will not allow UP bhaiyas to stray into Punjab,” Mr Channi had said.
Priyanka Gandhi could be seen clapping and smiling. Supporters sang “Bole so nihal…” and cheered.
Without addressing the controversial farm laws or the earlier protests, Prime Minister Modi stated that the Swami Nathan Commission report recommendations were adopted by the NDA government.
“Congress has always betrayed the people. The demand to implement the Swami Nathan Commission report was pending for many years. They were sitting on the files. Congress governments kept on lying. When our government came to the power at the Centre, we implemented the recommendations,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.
“Punjabis want a government with a fresh perspective and new ideas. Today’s farmer wants a higher-quality product, lower input costs, and a higher price. Our government is making efforts to make this happen,” Modi said.
Prime Minister Modi said that every business in Punjab has been captured by the mafia. The businessmen have been left to live at the mercy of the Mafia. Small businessmen are affected the worst. He said that security has a direct impact on businesses and the industries going out of the state.
Charanjit Singh Channi clarifies on his ‘bhaiya’ remark
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has issued a clarification, claiming that his bhaiya statement has been misinterpreted.
“My point has been misunderstood. All of the immigrants who have migrated to Punjab have contributed their sweat and blood to the state’s development “According to Charanjit Singh Channi. He said, “I have a close relationship with them [migrants].”
When he said ‘UP, Bihar ke bhaiya,’ Charanjit Singh Channi clarified that he was referring to AAP politicians, not migrants who work in Punjab.
Priyanka Gandhi defended CM Channi
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary, defended Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday, saying his ‘UP-Bihar ke bhaiya’ remark was misinterpreted.
She clarified that all the CM said was that Punjab should be run by Punjabis.
“His statement was misconstrued. I don’t think anyone from UP is interested in coming to Punjab and ruling,” she said.
The Congress general secretary stated that the BJP and AAP are only in Punjab to fulfil their personal objectives, and that the state requires a strong and stable government that works for the people.
She also slammed the BJP, accusing it of insulting Uttar Pradesh farmers and using the death of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri as an example.
